Chris Pappas

A Chicago area native, I currently work from my home studio in Clayton, North Carolina. After studying visual communication at Ferris University in Big Rapids, Michigan, I continued the next two years at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois, with an emphasis on illustration. As commercial illustration began its move to the computer, I went back to school to “retool,” applying the acquired skills to the digital art medium.

My three strongest areas as an illustrator are the focus in this site. Today my work is evenly divided between digital and conventional formats. Depending on the client’s needs, or preferences, my clean, easy-to-read illustration style translates well in both mediums. I also work for several publishing companies across the country as an illustrator of K-12 and higher education textbooks, technical and product manuals, and cookbooks just to name a few.

From time to time I enjoy teaching and giving speeches to younger audiences in the schools to communicate to them, “If you really love art, then there is a professional future out there, if you are willing to work for it.”

Artwork has always been my life’s passion, and it has fulfilled me in business and has constantly nurtured my creative spirit. Whether it’s illustrating a product prototype, or creating concept drawings, it’s always exciting to dig in on the next challenge.

Thanks for visiting my site, and hope you’ll come back from time to time to see new works.

Sincerely,
Chris Pappas

“My philosophy as a professional artist is to make every effort to keep my clients pleased with the best art product I can deliver. This is easy to achieve because I truly love what I do.”
